Optional deeper analysis.

If this would be helpful, we can go deeper.

The free CollegeClearly experience stands on its own. It gives your family a published cost per college, a residency-corrected four-year figure, a personalized remainder after grants and family contribution, side-by-side Compare across your list, and a saved copy on your device. For families who only want that, the free experience is honestly complete. This page describes an optional deeper analysis that some families want. It is not a required next step and it is not the destination of the free tools.

Section 1

What you already have from CollegeClearly.

  • The school's published cost of attendance for the residency your family would apply under.
  • The residency-corrected four-year figure at that published cost.
  • A personalized remainder after any grants and after what your family plans to pay per year.
  • Side-by-side Compare across every college on your list, on one screen, using the same framework for each column.
  • A saved copy of your one-college summary you can return to, and a Compare state that autosaves to your device.
  • For the 51 schools where a published merit chart has been captured, a merit-tier estimate against your student's GPA and test score.

For a family that only wants that picture, the free experience is honestly complete.

Section 2

What the Report does that the free experience does not do.

  • Runs the four-year cost with the family's savings, PLUS willingness, and Parent PLUS credit concern layered in, and reports whether the plan actually closes.
  • Allocates federal Direct and Parent PLUS loans per year within the current caps under P.L. 119-21, and reports which specific year the plan first breaks if it breaks.
  • Produces a Financial Path verdict per college and a written explanation of what is driving it.
  • Builds a nine-layer Funding Map showing what would need to activate in each year and in what order.
  • Applies the family's stated borrowing ceiling and reports where the plan sits inside it, where it breaches it, and by how much per year.
  • Reruns a full second Report when actual award letters arrive, replacing Modeled and Unknown figures with the Approved figures from the offers. Included in the same purchase.

Every figure carries the same Published / Approved / Modeled / Stated / Unknown discipline the free tools use.

Section 3

Why this might matter.

  • When a family compares several colleges, one plan often closes across four years and another does not. The Report names which is which, which year the failing plan first breaks, and what would need to change to close it.
  • Merit renewal terms are not the same across schools. The Report writes out the four-year effect of each qualifying tier and flags the schools where the merit is renewable and the schools where it is not.
  • Out-of-state cost at a public flagship often runs above the federal Parent PLUS aggregate cap once family contribution and grants are layered in. The Report models exactly how far above, and which specific year that becomes binding.
  • For families whose colleges are not in the small paid_report_ready set, need-based aid is honestly labeled Unknown until the actual award letters arrive. The included rerun replaces those Unknown and Modeled figures with the Approved figures from the offers, without a second purchase.
Section 4

If it sounds useful.

$99. Includes the initial Report and one full update when your actual award letters arrive.
