About CollegeClearly

Most college decisions are future-life decisions disguised as financial decisions.

CollegeClearly turns a college's published cost into something a family can feel before they commit: what four years adds up to, what merit and their own money take off it, and what borrowing the rest would mean every month after graduation.

Why this exists

The cost is usually visible. The commitment is not.

When a financial aid offer arrives, the numbers on it are per year, before anything is borrowed, and rarely next to the numbers from the other college on the list. What happens after graduation is nowhere on the page.

CollegeClearly puts the college's own published figures, the family's own numbers, and the monthly consequence on one screen, so the decision can be made with the commitment in view. CollegeClearly organizes what can be known today and makes the uncertainty visible.

Not to tell families what to choose. To help them see the decision clearly.

Every family's situation is different, and affordability is one part of a much larger decision. Our job is to make that one part clear.

Independence

No college, lender, or partner has any say in what you see.

Paid placements in the numbers

Calculations, comparisons, and college pages are never influenced by a college, a lender, or a financial institution.

Free
For families, always

The calculator, Compare, the saved summary, and the college pages cost nothing and need no account.

Labeled
If a partnership ever exists

Any sponsorship or referral arrangement would be clearly disclosed, kept separate from the estimates, and never presented as a recommendation.

Beyond the calculation

A calculation is a moment of clarity. The summary is how it survives.

Save an estimate and it becomes a CollegeClearly Summary: the college's published figures, the tier and aid you entered, what your family plans to pay, and the monthly figure, on one page you can keep, print, or bring to the kitchen table when the decision actually gets made.

Who makes this

Todd Bradfield, founder

Costa Mesa, California

I built CollegeClearly because I was trying to figure out what college would actually cost my own family, and I couldn't find a simple way to see the whole financial picture. I want other families to be able to see those numbers clearly before they make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.
